On 15 September 2016, Black Swan Fund, a polish business angels network, organized a pitching session in Warsaw, Poland. Three investment projects from the energy sector, open data and artificial intelligence in real estate, and e-commerce – clothing marketplace were presented in front of 30 business angels, mostly women. Black Swan brings together a network of prospective female investors from different professional backgrounds that already invest or intend to start investing in female run startups. Black Swan was initiated by the Foundation for Women’s Entrepreneurship, 1,5 years ago in Poland. It works with around 100 active and prospective female BAs. 3 investment projects were financed so far within Black Swan: InviPay, a fin-tech application, Pelvifly, a telemedicine platform, and EnteCafe, e-commerce.
Candace Johnson, EBAN President, was the key speaker at the seminar that was organized prior to the pitching event. Around 80 potential investors were present at the seminar.
Candace gave a captivating speech presenting EBAN and her personal angel investor experience. She was very well received by Black Swan investors, many of whom commented on Candace being a great source of inspiration and a role model for them. The Black Swan Fund event was a resounding success and a great step toward developing the female business angel market in Poland.
